  • How to Repair the HDMI Port on Apple TV 128GB 4K (2022)?

I recently came across an Apple TV 4K 128GB, complete with the remote and power cord, at a garage sale. The seller priced it at just $35, but mentioned that the device was broken. I figured the remote alone was worth the price, so I decided to go ahead and buy it.

Upon inspecting the device, I discovered that the HDMI port was severely damaged. It turned out the seller’s nephew had taken a set of keys to it while they were moving items around, which resulted in the destruction of the port. Now, I’m faced with the dilemma of whether to attempt a repair or to simply toss the device.

I researched the potential costs of getting the Apple TV repaired through official channels, and it appears that the repair fees are almost equivalent to purchasing a new one. This makes it difficult to justify the expense of fixing it, especially considering the damage. At this point, I’m seeking advice on possible repair options.

It’s worth noting that there might be third-party repair services that could offer a more affordable solution. However, I’m also pondering if it might be smarter to just let it go and look for a replacement. The situation poses a bit of a challenge; I must weigh the potential value of salvaging the device against the costs involved.

If anyone has experience with similar situations or knows DIY methods for repairing HDMI ports, I would greatly appreciate your insights. Otherwise, I’m leaning towards parting ways with this broken Apple TV.

  • Apple TV’s Brick Design: A Comprehensive Discussion on MacRumors Forums

Has anyone else experienced their Apple TV being bricked after the TVOS 26 update? Last week, my device wouldn’t boot, but after unplugging it and plugging it back in, it managed to enter recovery mode.

I selected the restart option, and everything seemed to work fine afterward. However, today, I’m facing a different problem.

My Apple TV is once again stuck on the recovery screen and is not responding to the remote at all. It seems like I’m back to square one, and I’m frustrated with this situation.

Has anyone found a solution or encountered a similar issue? Any advice on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Series 10: Severe Battery Drain Issues Following Update 11.4

I have been using the Series 10, titanium 46mm since its launch, and I have consistently enjoyed impressive battery life. Typically, after wearing it from around 6 AM to 11 PM, the battery would only drop to about 50%. However, since I updated to version 11.4, I have noticed a significant change in performance.

Now, the battery drains at approximately 10% per hour, often leaving it completely dead long before bedtime. This sudden decline in battery efficiency raises some concerns. It is frustrating to rely on a device that used to perform exceptionally well, only to have it struggle with basic functionality after an update.

I am curious if anyone else has experienced similar issues following the upgrade to 11.4. If you have any ideas or solutions that could help restore the battery life, I would greatly appreciate your input. Perhaps a reset, a change in settings, or a different approach could make a difference.

Any suggestions would be welcome as I try to navigate this frustrating situation. Thank you!

  • Issues with Creating an Apple Account

This is my first post, and I hope everyone is doing well! I am experiencing the same error across multiple iOS devices, approximately 5 or 6, with various models. The issue arises when I try to create an account; I receive the message, “Can’t create account at this time.”

In addition to this, I am encountering problems with the OTP functionality. Even when using a fresh phone number, I’m unable to receive the OTP needed for verification. This has become quite frustrating, as I cannot proceed without it.

Recently, I have faced yet another issue: an error message stating, “Couldn’t update account.” This situation has compounded my difficulties, making it impossible to manage my account effectively. Overall, it seems that these errors are not limited to just one device or model but are widespread across several iOS platforms.

I would appreciate any guidance or solutions from others who might be facing similar challenges. Thank you for your support!

  • Open Safari in a New Tab – MacRumors Forums Discussion

    Hello,

I recently wiped my iPhone and downgraded to iOS 18.5. Since making these changes, I’ve noticed a new behavior in the Safari browser. Specifically, when I tap “Open in New Tab,” it automatically takes me to that new tab right away. This is different from how it functioned previously, and I find it somewhat disruptive.

I’m reaching out to see if there’s any solution to change this behavior back to the way it used to operate. I prefer to remain on the current page until I manually switch to the new tab myself. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

  • Exploring IOS’s Key Flaw: App Library Functionality vs. Home Screen Design

Many users are frustrated by Apple’s lack of a straightforward method to identify installed apps that are not represented on the Home Screen. This issue becomes particularly evident for those who choose the “App Library Only” option, as it requires manual movement of apps to the Home Screen.

When considering reorganizing or re-adding apps to the Home Screen, it can be cumbersome to scroll through the App Library without any clear indicators. An effective solution would involve marking each app in the App Library to show whether it’s currently on the Home Screen.

This would provide quick visual cues for users, making it easier to manage their app organization. Another useful feature could be a summary, similar to what is provided for “Hidden Apps” in the Settings under the Apps section.

This would allow users to quickly see which apps are not only hidden but also which ones are simply residing in the App Library without a Home Screen presence. The demand for these features raises a question: am I alone in thinking that Apple could significantly improve the user experience in this area?

Enhanced visibility and organization tools would undoubtedly contribute to a more efficient and satisfying use of the app environment. In conclusion, implementing a simple marking system or summary feature in the App Library could alleviate a lot of frustration and streamline how users interact with their applications.

Many users, including myself, would welcome these enhancements.

  • Recommendation for Apple: Consider Minor Design Adjustments for the iPad Pro

We recommend that Apple consider revising the design of the iPad Pro by introducing three distinct models: 9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch. This would allow for a broader range of options tailored to the needs of different users. Additionally, we suggest the reintroduction of the Home button, which many users have expressed a desire to see return.

Regarding the 12.9-inch model, we believe that taking cues from the original and second-generation designs could yield appealing results. These earlier models have a fan base that appreciates their aesthetics and functionality. We are also excited about the potential expansion of the iPad lineup with the introduction of the iPad Pro Slim, available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes.

This new variation should maintain the modern design cues established by the iPad Pro with the M4 chip. By blending sleek design with powerful performance, the iPad Pro Slim could attract a new segment of customers seeking both portability and capability. In conclusion, by rethinking the current iPad Pro design and integrating exciting new models, Apple can continue to lead the tablet market, catering to a wide array of user preferences.

The return of the Home button, combined with updated designs, can enhance usability and ensure that users have the best possible experience with their devices.

  • Daily Use of My OLED iPad Pro: A Purchase Worth Every Penny!

At the launch of the OLED Pro, I spent quite a bit of time debating whether it was worth the investment of £1000 for an iPad. Initially, I felt a sense of guilt over the high cost, but looking back, it has undoubtedly been a worthwhile purchase. Since buying the iPad Pro, I’ve found that I’ve stopped using my small iPhone screen during evenings and weekends.

Instead, I reach for the iPad, which has transformed my viewing experience. The display quality is exceptional for watching videos, making my YouTube Premium subscription feel even more valuable. The light weight of the device has also been a significant advantage, making it easy to use for extended periods.

Now that I use it daily, I often wonder why I was so concerned about the price in the first place. This device has truly become an essential part of my routine. Moreover, I am considering upgrading to the larger model once a new version is released.

Currently, I have the 11-inch model, but there are times my partner and I enjoy watching shows together in the kitchen or while relaxing in bed. A larger screen would enhance that experience even further. I can already imagine how much more enjoyable these moments could be with a bigger display.

Overall, my initial hesitation has completely faded, and I can confidently say that investing in the iPad Pro has enriched my daily life in more ways than I anticipated.

  • Display Touch Problems on iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max: Discuss on MacRumors Forums

I recently got my new 16 Pro Max, and overall, I think it’s an exceptional phone. However, I’m encountering significant issues with the touch sensitivity of the display. I’ve installed a Belkin Screen Protector, which was put on by the Apple Store staff, but I find that the screen is occasionally unresponsive to my touch. This problem is most noticeable when I’m typing or playing games that require extensive touch interactions.

I’m curious if anyone else has faced this issue. I’ve been considering removing the screen protector to see if that would improve the touch sensitivity, but I’m hesitant to use such an expensive device without any protection. I truly hope this is related to software rather than a hardware issue. If anyone has any advice or solutions, I would greatly appreciate it.
