Anticipated Release Date for iPhone 17: What to Expect – MacRumors

Apple’s eagerly anticipated iPhone 17 series is expected to launch in September 2025, continuing the company’s tradition of releasing new iPhone models in the fall each year. The unveiling of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max is likely to take place during Apple’s annual announcement event around September 8, with September 9 or 10 being strong candidates for the actual date. Based on past trends, these new devices could hit store shelves and online retailers by Friday, September 20.

The iPhone 17 series is set to introduce various new features and upgrades. Notably, the standard iPhone 17 will boast a larger 6.3-inch display, improved from the previous 6.1 inches. All models will feature 120 Hz ProMotion displays, and Apple will introduce a super-thin “Air” variant to replace the Plus model.

The Pro editions are expected to sport a unique half-glass, half-aluminum chassis and a redesigned horizontal camera bump. Significant advancements in connectivity are also anticipated, including Apple’s first in-house 5G modem chip specifically for the iPhone 17 Air, alongside Wi-Fi 7 support across all models. Camera capabilities are likely to take a leap, with a 24MP front camera for all variants and the Pro versions potentially featuring three 48MP rear cameras with 8K video support.

Memory upgrades are on the table as well, with Pro and Air models expected to offer 12GB of RAM, while the standard model will retain 8GB. Furthermore, battery enhancements will include support for up to 35W wired and Qi2 25W wireless charging. In addition to the iPhone 17 series, Apple’s fall event is rumored to reveal new Apple Watch models, including the Apple Watch SE 3, Series 11, and Ultra 3.

Official press invitations typically go out about a week in advance, so more details should emerge shortly.
