Apple’s anticipated foldable devices, including the first foldable iPhone and iPad, are reportedly entering production soon. Analyst Jeff Pu has stated that these new products have recently reached the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase at Foxconn. According to Pu’s research note with GF Securities, mass production is expected to commence in the latter half of 2026, with an early prototyping phase starting as soon as April of this year. While specific details about the devices remain scarce, industry speculation suggests the foldable iPhone may feature an inner display of up to 8 inches.
Meanwhile, the foldable iPad could boast a considerably larger screen of up to 19 inches. Pu also indicated that Apple’s iPhone shipment projections for 2025 might be “lukewarm,” a factor attributed to delays in introducing personalized Siri features. Looking ahead, Pu anticipates that the launch of these foldable devices will significantly bolster Foxconn’s business in 2026. After several years of rumors surrounding Apple’s intention to release foldable products, the recent developments imply that a launch may not be too far off—potentially either in late 2026 or by 2027, depending on the timeline for mass production.
In related news, there are forthcoming public beta releases for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26, expected around July 23. As Apple prepares for these updates, excitement continues to build around the upcoming iPhone 17 series, which is rumored to include a redesigned Dynamic Island interface and various color options, based on leaked internal documents. Amid this buzz, analysts project the foldable iPhone could come with a hefty starting price ranging from $1,800 to $2,000, positioning it as the most expensive iPhone model to date.
