Rumors regarding the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models are already emerging, despite the fact that their launch is still almost a year away. Analyst Jeff Pu has shared his insights and expectations regarding these devices in a recent research note for Haitong International.
According to Pu, both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to boast a significant upgrade with a 48-megapixel Telephoto rear camera and a 24-megapixel front camera, compared to the 12-megapixel offerings of the current iPhone 16 Pro models. Additionally, he anticipates an increase in memory, with the iPhone 17 Pro models likely to feature 12GB of RAM, up from the 8GB in their predecessors.
This enhancement is anticipated to bolster performance, particularly for Apple Intelligence and multitasking capabilities. Another interesting detail from Pu is the expected modification of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
He predicts that the Dynamic Island will be more streamlined thanks to the introduction of a smaller “metalens” for the Face ID system, marking the first size reduction since the feature was introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro models in 2022. While some specifications remain largely unchanged, the devices are expected to retain their respective display sizes of 6.3 inches for the iPhone 17 Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max.
Both models will likely be powered by the A19 Pro chip, manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 3nm process, similar to the A18 Pro. Apple is projected to officially announce the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, which will include a standard iPhone 17, in addition to a new, slimmer model dubbed the “iPhone 17 Air.”
