Thank you to our supporters for your continued encouragement! Additionally, we briefly examine the latest version of iOS 18 before diving into listener emails that spark engaging conversations.

One noteworthy topic is whether the internet poses a greater danger to children today compared to the 1990s. We share our thoughts on this subject.

Later in the episode, Eli gives a detailed account of his Dungeons & Dragons experiences, focusing on the challenges associated with physical versus digital ownership of game materials. We encourage listeners to email us with questions, feedback, or any topics they want to discuss.

  • Unbelievable Location for the Power Button!

In this week’s episode of The TouchArcade Show, I share a personal recap of the last couple of weeks. Notably, my 5-year-old son recently broke his arm, which led to quite the adventure. Amidst that chaos, I also embarked on my journey towards becoming an instructional aide in my local school district.

Exciting career moves, indeed! We also delve into the latest Apple controversy, dubbed #MacMiniPowerButtonGate. Alongside this, we discuss our thoughts on the Arcane TV show and recount a less-than-stellar experience at an Apple Store.

As always, listener emails play a significant role in our conversation. This week, we explore various topics, which once again lead to a discussion surrounding sensitive issues, including pedophilia. We encourage you to reach out via email with any questions, feedback, or just to say hello at our designated address.

We read all your messages and genuinely enjoy engaging with creative content like messages written in emojis. If you’re enjoying the show, please consider subscribing and leaving a review on iTunes—it means a lot to us. • Nostalgia for Payphones: Tune into TouchArcade Show Episode #608!

In this week’s installment of The TouchArcade Show, we delve into a variety of entertaining topics. We kick off the episode with an in-depth look at Eli’s latest gadget: a high-tech 3D printer.

As I had predicted last week, he finally made the purchase! Following this, I share a humorous and somewhat awkward moment I had trying to explain payphones to my young children.

It was a stark reminder of how time flies and how much things have changed. We also touch on some recent developments in Apple Arcade, discussing the games and features that have caught our attention.

Our conversation then moves to the current state of the streaming industry, which seems to be struggling. We pose the question: could returning to physical DVDs be a viable solution?

It’s a topic sure to spark debate, as many find convenience in streaming despite its pitfalls. As always, we encourage our listeners to send us emails with questions, feedback, or anything they feel is relevant (or even irrelevant).

We appreciate every message and particularly enjoy decoding ones that are entirely made with emojis! In addition to the audio podcast, we offer a video version exclusively on Patreon.

  • Mildly Exaggerated: The Reports of Our Death

Hello friends! After a ten-week hiatus, we are excited to announce the return of our podcast. How have you been? We’ve missed you!

Without further ado, let’s dive into the latest episode. In this episode, Eli and I catch up on what’s been happening in our lives over the last couple of months. The truth is, things have been a bit hectic and not overwhelmingly exciting—just a combination of being busy and dealing with illness. We also delve into our latest obsessions with retro handheld gaming devices.

I’m currently smitten with the Retroid Pocket 5, and I’ve also picked up a Miyoo A30 as a budget-friendly, portable option. Eli introduces us to two GBA SP look-alikes: the Miyoo Flip and the Anbernic RGX. Their naming conventions leave much to be desired! Next, we share our thoughts on the much-debated announcement of the Switch 2.

To top it all off, we round out our discussion with some classic VR topics. Apologies for the long wait, but it truly feels great to be back in action. • The TouchArcade Show #613: A Two-Part Special Edition!

This week, we are excited to have Tursiops Studios as our sponsor! You might recall them as the developers of the fantastic game *The Day We Fought Space*. Their latest release is called *Primrows*, which we have previously discussed, and it is now available on both mobile and desktop platforms. During the episode, I share some of my early impressions of the game halfway through the show.

Since *Primrows* is free to play with a one-time premium unlock, there’s no reason not to give it a try. Now, onto this week’s podcast episode, which turned out to be quite a whirlwind. Due to some internet issues, we had to record the show in two parts — the first half yesterday and the second half today. Despite the hiccup, we managed to cover a range of topics.

These include discussions on the Nintendo Switch 2, highlights from the Mario Kart Direct, the announcement of PlayDate Season 2, retro handheld devices, and more. We also took the time to catch up on listener emails that have accumulated since January. We love hearing from you, so don’t hesitate to send us your questions, feedback, or any other comments at our email. We read every message and especially enjoy decoding any that are composed entirely in emoji!

If you appreciate our content, consider subscribing or leaving us a review on iTunes. In addition to the audio podcast, we also provide a video version exclusively for our Patreon backers. This allows you to see us play the games we discuss. If you’re interested in our video episodes, make sure you’re logged in to see the latest content.

  • iOS 26 Unveils 3 Highly Anticipated Features for Messages – MacRumors

Apple’s Messages app is set for significant upgrades in the upcoming iOS 26, which will be previewed at WWDC. Three features that users have long requested are finally making their way to the platform, enhancing the appeal of iMessage compared to competing chat applications.

The first anticipated addition is **Polls**. This feature will allow users in group chats to create polls, enabling easier decision-making within conversations.

There’s speculation that the app might even utilize Apple Intelligence to suggest poll options based on the chat’s context, streamlining the process further. Another exciting enhancement is **Auto-Translate**.

This feature will automatically translate incoming and outgoing messages when communicating with someone who speaks a different language. Although users can currently translate messages by long-pressing them, the new automatic translations promise a smoother, more intuitive experience for international dialogues.

Lastly, iOS 26 will introduce **Background Images**. Users will be able to set personalized backgrounds for individual messaging threads, with these images syncing across all Apple devices.

This simple yet effective enhancement aims to add a touch of personality to conversations. While these features may not be groundbreaking, they address practical needs.

Polls can help solve coordination issues in group chats, auto-translate can facilitate smoother communication between speakers of different languages, and customizable backgrounds add a personal touch. Apple is expected to unveil a host of updates across multiple platforms during the WWDC keynote, scheduled for Monday, June 9, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

Fans and developers alike are eager to see if these long-awaited features will make the final cut. The event will be live-streamed, and those unable to watch in real-time can access live coverage and updates on various platforms.

However, users of these older devices can expect to receive security updates for a few more years.

The iPhones that will support iOS 26 include a wide range of models: iPhone 16e, 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, and the iPhone 11 series. This latest iOS version introduces an innovative design known as “Liquid Glass,” alongside various enhancements and new features. In other news, the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is underway, kicking off with a keynote today at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. This event is expected to showcase software-related announcements, particularly concerning a major redesign across Apple’s platforms.

Apple also debuted an extensive redesign called “Liquid Glass,” which will be integrated into multiple platforms including iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. This new design aims to create a cohesive experience, with added capabilities and a fresh look expected to shape the future of Apple software. As for iPadOS 26, it will be compatible with multiple iPad models and will feature the same Liquid Glass design alongside improved functionalities.
