Rumored Launch of ‘iPhone 17 Slim’ with Compact Display Expected Next Year – MacRumors

Rumors about the next-generation iPhone 17 model, tentatively dubbed the “iPhone 17 Slim,” have begun circulating, even before the official launch of the iPhone 16 series. Analyst Jeff Pu from the investment firm Haitong has indicated that this new model is set to replace the current Plus version within the iPhone lineup. The iPhone 17 Slim is expected to feature a display measuring approximately 6.6 inches, with a slimmer overall design. It may include upgrades such as an A18 or A19 chip, 8GB of RAM, and camera improvements with a 24-megapixel front camera and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera.

Notably, display industry analyst Ross Young suggests that the iPhone 17 will have a slightly smaller 6.55-inch display compared to the iPhone 15 Plus’s 6.7-inch screen. Moreover, Pu anticipates that the iPhone 17 Slim will have an aluminum chassis rather than the titanium casing found in the Pro models. While he mentions that some external design modifications are expected, he has not provided specific details on these changes. The official announcement of the iPhone 17 lineup is anticipated in September 2025, so it remains possible that some features may evolve before the final reveal.

In related news, Apple is currently hosting its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), where it recently unveiled a significant redesign of its software platforms, referred to as “Liquid Glass.” This new design language aims to unify the aesthetic across several systems including iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, promising a more dynamic user experience. The event has also featured numerous new features across Apple’s product range. As we await further updates on the iPhone 17, the ongoing developments from WWDC have already captured the attention of the tech community.
