This year’s conference is anticipated to showcase several software-related announcements, including a significant design overhaul across Apple’s various platforms. During the WWDC 2025 keynote, Apple introduced a revolutionary new design set to influence the next decade of development for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
Attendees were treated to an array of new features for the iPhone, an enhanced Spotlight interface for the Mac, and numerous updates aimed at aligning the iPad more closely with Mac functionality. One of the major highlights of the event was the announcement of a complete redesign for all major software platforms under the banner of “Liquid Glass.” This new design language was introduced simultaneously for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and CarPlay.
Apple’s software head, Craig Federighi, emphasized that “Apple Silicon has become dramatically more powerful,” signaling a shift in the capabilities of its devices. In addition, Apple confirmed that iPadOS 26 will be compatible with several iPad models, featuring the new Liquid Glass design alongside a revamped menu bar and improved app windowing. Notably, iPadOS 26 will support models including the iPad Pro (M4) and various generations of the iPad Air.
Furthermore, Apple is expanding its digital car key feature within the Wallet app, allowing users to control compatible vehicles with their iPhones and Apple Watches. This functionality is currently available with select automakers and is set to broaden even more. Apple’s introduction of iOS 26 showcased its new Liquid Glass visual design along with enhanced Apple Intelligence capabilities and updates to essential communication applications, promising to deliver an innovative user experience.
