In the recent iOS 26 update, Apple has significantly revamped the Battery section within the Settings app, offering users a more detailed insight into how their iPhone usage affects battery life. This update includes new tools for battery management and a clearer view of individual app battery consumption. At the forefront of the revamped Battery interface is an indicator displaying the current battery level alongside the time since the last charge.
Users can also see how much time remains until the device is fully charged if it’s currently connected to a power source. Notably, the battery usage overview has shifted away from the previous 24-hour and 10-day tracking, now offering a weekly summary of average battery use. Additionally, a comparative feature highlights whether the current battery usage is higher, lower, or in line with the user’s typical consumption.
This new comparison tool shows which applications are consuming the most battery, giving users valuable insights into their energy usage. It offers specifics on application activity, such as whether an app was utilized longer on screen, ran in the background more frequently, or sent increased notifications. Users can delve into the last week’s battery usage data, showcasing daily active use and screen idle time, along with charging durations.
Moreover, the Battery Health section continues to provide information on charge cycles and maximum capacity, along with a Charge Limit option to restrict charging to 80 percent. Additionally, a new Power Mode feature allows users to enable Low Power Mode or the innovative Adaptive Power Mode. The latter adjusts the device’s performance during heightened usage, optimizing factors like display brightness to enhance battery longevity.
These enhanced battery features are part of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, while Mac battery indications remain unchanged. Currently, iOS 26 is available only to developers, with a public beta expected next month and an official launch slated for September.
