Apple Pushes Back Release of Siri’s New Intelligent Features – MacRumors

Apple has announced a delay in the rollout of certain features for Siri, particularly those linked to the upcoming iOS 18. An official spokesperson shared this update with *Daring Fireball*, confirming that the implementation of a more personalized Siri experience will take longer than previously anticipated and is now expected to launch “in the coming year.” In the past six months, Apple has already enhanced Siri to be more conversational.

New functionalities like type-to-Siri, expanded product knowledge, and integration with ChatGPT have been introduced. The company aims to further develop a personalized Siri that understands users’ contexts better and can perform actions across various applications. These advanced features, initially showcased during the WWDC when iOS 18 was introduced, were expected to be part of an update soon after its release.

The improvements include personal context capabilities, onscreen awareness, and enhanced app integration. The personal context feature will allow Siri to track communication and files, enabling tasks like locating emails or finding specific recommendations. Additionally, onscreen awareness will enable Siri to assist with tasks based on what is currently displayed, such as adding addresses or sharing photos.

Deeper app integration is another area being enhanced, with potential capabilities to transfer files between applications, edit photos for sharing, and manage emails across contacts. Originally anticipated for iOS 18.4, concerns arose about the readiness of these features, leading to speculation about their roll out in the subsequent iOS 18.5 update. While the vague timeframe of “in the coming year” suggests a release within the next 12 months, recent updates indicate that the implementation of these new Siri functionalities could be delayed further until 2026.

Nonetheless, Apple has already made strides by introducing new features, including a refreshed interface and improvements in natural language processing as part of its ongoing advancements in Apple Intelligence.
