I recently encountered a full-screen ad on MacRumors for the first time, and I’m not sure if this has always been a feature or if it’s something new. While I dislike being negative and complaining, I understand that websites have expenses to cover, so I can appreciate the necessity for ads. However, I feel that full-screen ads are becoming outdated. They interrupt the browsing experience, and I believe many users may share this sentiment.
Seeing this ad just a couple of seconds after scrolling down the homepage was particularly bothersome for me. I want to clarify that I’m not considering boycotting MacRumors or anything drastic. It’s simply a minor annoyance that prompted me to start this thread to find out if anyone else feels similarly. After all, it’s possible that other users may also find these full-screen ads intrusive.
While I recognize the need for revenue, I can’t help but wonder if there are better advertising options that would be less disruptive. MacRumors is a site I enjoy, and I hope it continues to thrive without relying on ad formats that may not enhance the user experience. In the end, I’m curious to hear from other users: Do you find the full-screen ads annoying, or is it just me? It would be interesting to gauge how the community feels about this issue and whether it impacts our engagement with the site.
