The upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumored to be thicker than its predecessor, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, according to Chinese leaker Ice Universe. Reports suggest that the new model’s depth will increase from 8.25mm to 8.725mm, resulting in a 0.475mm difference. This increase is believed to allow for a larger battery, although no specific details about improved battery life have surfaced yet. Aside from the thickness, the frame of the iPhone 17 Pro Max reportedly remains similar to that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Expectations are high for the iPhone 17’s design, with rumors indicating a sizable rectangular camera bump that features rounded corners. Interestingly, Apple is said to maintain the triangular arrangement for the rear camera lenses while possibly switching back to an aluminum frame instead of the titanium frame seen in the previous models. Furthermore, the new design is anticipated to incorporate a “part-aluminum, part-glass” material for the back of the device. In a surprising twist, Ice Universe mentioned that the dimensions of the iPhone 17 Pro Max are claimed to match those of the all-new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, aside from the thickness differences.
As Apple gears up for new product launches, it’s clear that the iPhone 17 series is already generating significant buzz among tech enthusiasts. In addition to the iPhone announcements, Apple’s recent WWDC 2025 keynote showcased updates across their software ecosystem, including iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Significant features were introduced, along with redesigns that will shape Apple’s approach in the coming years. With iOS 26 introducing a Liquid Glass design alongside new features, the anticipation for Apple’s next-generation devices continues to grow.
