Recent findings in the code for iOS 26 indicate that Apple is developing a new version of its popular headphones, the AirPods Pro 3. Contributor Steve Moser from MacRumors discovered references to “AirPods Pro 3” alongside existing models in the software framework related to headphone features. Although no official announcement has been made, the evidence suggests that Apple is gearing up for a product launch later this fall.
This isn’t the first indication of the AirPods Pro 3; a previous subtle change in Apple’s references to the devices hinted at future updates. Last month, Apple altered the naming of the second-generation AirPods Pro to “AirPods Pro 2 or later,” even though there is currently no model that qualifies as “later.” Anticipation builds around the potential redesign of both the earbuds and their charging case.
Speculation suggests that Apple may slim down the case design similarly to what was done with the AirPods 4. Along with a fresh aesthetic, users can expect advances in technology, such as a faster audio chip that will enhance Active Noise Cancellation and audio quality. There are also rumors of new health monitoring features, including heart rate tracking and temperature sensing capabilities.
