Is Upgrading from M1 to Newer Models Worth It?

I’m working on a side project that involves recording video at resolutions of 1440p, 1080p, and potentially 4K in the future. I plan to use my Mac M1 for this purpose, and I am contemplating an upgrade.

However, transitioning to a Mac M4 Pro with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage comes with a hefty price tag of about $1,700. My main question is: will the M1 suffice for video editing, especially for smaller projects related to YouTube, or will it be an arduous and frustrating experience?

As for my editing needs, I’ve heard that the M1 chip handles video editing reasonably well for many users. While it may not be as powerful as its successors, it should be adequate for smaller-scale projects.

It will depend on the complexity of what you’re trying to edit and the software you plan to use. You might find it manageable for simpler tasks, but be prepared for some limits when working with more demanding projects.

Regarding peripherals, I am also on the lookout for a good mechanical gaming keyboard that is compatible with Macs. While many options at stores advertise Mac support, I often find that the key layouts can be confusing, as they don’t always match what is displayed on the keys.

It’s important to find a keyboard that not only works well with macOS but also features a layout that is intuitive and easy to use. If you have any recommendations, I would greatly appreciate them.
