Apple is set to refresh nearly all of its built-in apps in iOS 26, including notable updates to Notes and Reminders. While many changes are visual, several new functionalities are also being introduced that users will find particularly beneficial. One of the standout features is the Liquid Glass design, which brings a fresh look to both the Notes and Reminders apps. In Notes, the toolbar adopts a more compact appearance with rounded corners and a frosted glass style.
The buttons have also transitioned to circular shapes, enhancing the overall aesthetic. In Reminders, color sections replace the previous white backgrounds, and buttons have a more rounded, translucent appearance. The updates to the Reminders app extend beyond just visual changes. A significant addition is the incorporation of AI features, requiring a device compatible with Apple Intelligence.
Notably, users will find a Siri Suggestions section that can propose items to add to their to-do lists based on conversations in Mail and Messages. This personalized approach helps streamline the reminder creation process, offering contextual suggestions for tasks and grocery items. Additionally, the Reminders app now has the capability to categorize related tasks together, which assists in grouping errands or work tasks without requiring manual sorting. Another convenience is a new option in Control Center for quickly creating reminders, allowing access from various points, including the Lock Screen.
The Notes app also received useful updates, including Math Notes supporting 3D graph creation through complex equations. There’s a new scrolling toolbar feature that allows users to swipe through tool options more easily, alongside support for exporting notes in Markdown format. Lastly, a visible search bar in the Folders view and the capability to save audio recordings from phone calls further enhance user experience. Overall, these updates in iOS 26 aim to improve the usability and visual appeal of Apple’s native apps significantly.
