Hello everyone, I’m a newcomer seeking some assistance. I will keep my message brief and straightforward.
After extensive research, I’ve decided to upgrade from the default Radeon HD 5770 in my Mac Pro 5,1. I opted for the Radeon Pro WX7100 due to its straightforward installation process—it’s a single-slot card that doesn’t require additional power modifications, making it a great fit for my budget.
Once I placed my order, I started to wonder if I need a special cable to connect the new GPU or if I can use the existing one that was hooked up to the 5770. I searched through various forums and conducted general inquiries but couldn’t locate specific answers to my question.
Since this represents my first significant upgrade, I’m still learning the ropes. I have previously installed a USB card, but transitioning to a new GPU feels more challenging.
Any help or guidance on whether I need a different cable for the Radeon Pro WX7100 or if I can continue using the existing one would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance!
