iOS 18.6 RC: Updates on Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

iOS 18.6 RC is set for release on July 21, 2025, with a build number of 22G84. This release will include updates on the Darwin Kernel, along with features focusing on user experience and stability.

Developers and testers are encouraged to report any bugs via the Feedback app. For those who have reverted their settings to “None” for beta programs, accessing the Feedback app can still be done through a specific URL entered in Safari.

To install the beta version over-the-air, users should enable Beta Updates through their device settings, ensuring that they are logged into the correct Apple account. After selecting the desired beta type—either public or developer—users can refresh the software update option to begin the installation process.

It’s advisable to back up devices to either a computer or iCloud prior to installation. Once the beta is installed, turning off Beta Updates is an option as well.

For Mac users, the process requires either the Xcode beta or a MobileDevice.pkg file to facilitate installation. Users must also ensure they back up their devices beforehand.

Holding the Option key while checking for updates allows you to choose the appropriate IPSW file downloaded from the Apple Developer website. Remember, restoring an iPhone will wipe all data, so maintaining a backup is essential.

The list of compatible devices with respective version numbers includes models from the iPhone 16 series down to the iPhone XS. Network compatibility details are also provided for various carriers across different regions, ensuring users know their version numbers for connectivity.

Lastly, it’s crucial to keep track of historical beta releases and updates to understand the evolution of iOS versions.
