Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently announced that the upcoming iPhone 17 models will not feature a smaller version of the Dynamic Island, a statement shared on social media. Kuo clarified that the size of the Dynamic Island is expected to remain “largely unchanged” across the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
This news contradicts earlier rumors suggesting that Apple was planning to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island in the new models. Previously, analyst Jeff Pu had mentioned multiple times last year that the iPhone 17 Pro would potentially use a “metalens” for Face ID, which would result in a significantly narrowed Dynamic Island.
However, Kuo’s comments indicate that such alterations may not occur after all. The Dynamic Island was first introduced in Apple’s 2022 iPhone lineup and has seen little variation since then.
Even though there have been ongoing speculations about Apple eventually creating a smaller cutout for enhanced screen space, it appears this development might not be feasible at this time. While the iPhone 17 models may not showcase a redesigned Dynamic Island, Apple is reportedly planning other design enhancements.
The introduction of the “iPhone 17 Air” suggests a significant redesign for the first time in years, and both the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro models are rumored to feature a new horizontal camera arrangement. As the expected unveiling of the iPhone 17 series draws closer in September, anticipation continues to build among fans and tech enthusiasts alike.
Various rumors have emerged regarding key changes, including differences between the Pro and Pro Max models, illumination of new design elements, and advancements in battery technology for the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
