The iPhone 17 Air is generating buzz with rumors suggesting it will come equipped with 12GB of RAM, similar to the Pro models. Ming-Chi Kuo, a respected analyst in the Apple supply chain, recently indicated in a blog post that all three models of the iPhone 17—Air, Pro, and Pro Max—are likely to feature this significant upgrade. Initially, Kuo had predicted that only the iPhone 17 Pro Max would include the enhanced RAM, making this news particularly encouraging for buyers interested in the other variants.
Kuo noted that even the basic iPhone 17 model might incorporate 12GB of RAM, contingent on overcoming supply chain obstacles. Apple is expected to finalize its decision regarding the RAM specifications by May. Currently, the iPhone 16 lineup includes 8GB of RAM, so a shift to 12GB would represent a noteworthy boost in terms of performance, particularly for multitasking and Apple’s intelligent features.
Furthermore, if the base model ultimately retains the 8GB, Kuo anticipates that all models in the subsequent iPhone 18 series will have 12GB. This increase in RAM could also benefit key Apple suppliers like Micron and SK Hynix. As the tech community eagerly awaits more developments, Apple is expected to reveal the iPhone 17 series in September.
In addition to the RAM expectations, various rumors have emerged surrounding the design changes and specifications of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models. Notably, the logos may be positioned lower on the device, and the Pro Max is anticipated to feature the largest battery capacity yet at 5,000mAh. Overall, anticipation is high for the upcoming Apple devices as the year progresses.
