iOS 19 Expected to Introduce Redesigned Camera App Inspired by visionOS – MacRumors

iOS 19 is set to introduce a redesigned Camera app that draws inspiration from visionOS, as revealed in a recent video by Jon Prosser, the host of Front Page Tech. While Prosser shared recreations of the app to maintain his sources’ confidentiality, the visuals suggest significant changes to the app’s interface. The rumored new Camera app is expected to feature translucent menus, closely resembling the user interface of the Apple Vision Pro headset. Camera controls will be categorized into photo and video modes, offering options like spatial video recording and photo timers.

Additionally, real-time video resolution and frame rate settings will appear at the top of the screen as needed. The overall aesthetic of the app promises a cleaner look, allowing for a more expansive viewfinder compared to the current iteration in iOS 18. Interestingly, previous rumors had predicted a visionOS-like redesign for iOS 18, which ultimately did not materialize. While an alleged screenshot surfaced later, it was deemed fake, suggesting that these features may have been in development for iOS 19 instead.

There is speculation that the translucent design could extend to other interfaces and built-in apps in iOS 19, with Prosser envisioning similar aesthetics for Home Screen widgets. Apple is expected to announce iOS 19 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025, with a public release set for September. As anticipation builds for this update, other recent Apple developments include the forthcoming public beta releases for iOS 26 and new color options for the iPhone 17 series, among other exciting announcements.
