Today, leaker Jon Prosser unveiled a mockup of the Messages app for iOS 19. His design presents an interface with rounded, translucent bubble-shaped navigation buttons located at the top. The keyboard and word suggestions have also been redesigned with softer, rounder corners, giving the app a modern and user-friendly appearance. In the mockup, the return button, a button for navigating back to the Messages list, and the FaceTime button feature a deeper blue hue that appears to glow slightly.
However, there do not seem to be any major changes to the overall layout of the Messages app. The iMessage presentation can be watched at 42:50 in the corresponding video, lasting approximately one minute. Prosser previously showcased a mockup of the iOS 19 Camera app, which features design elements reminiscent of visionOS, including a translucent toolbar that enhances the visibility of the photos beneath it. He indicated that this mockup was based on insights from unnamed sources who provided details about the actual iOS 19 Camera app.
The same approach appears to be employed for the Messages app mockup, recreating the design instead of using real screenshots. Prosser noted that there would be no significant redesigns for the Messages app or Home Screen in iOS 19, contrary to expectations of a major overhaul since iOS 7. Looking ahead, Prosser plans to release a video tomorrow that will provide further information on the design of iOS 19. There are rumors suggesting a comprehensive design revitalization for iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS Sequoia 16.
This update is anticipated to refresh menus, system buttons, apps, and icons, drawing inspiration from the translucency and rounded buttons first introduced in visionOS, all aimed at delivering a consistent cross-platform user experience.
