Rumors surrounding the iPhone 17 Pro suggest that it will maintain the ‘triangular’ camera design rather than adopting a horizontal layout as previously speculated. The leaker known as “Instant Digital” recently stated that sources have confirmed a change in the appearance of the phone’s back, but the arrangement of its three cameras will still be triangular. This revelation stands in contrast to earlier supply chain information from China, which indicated that the camera module would be designed in an elongated oval shape.
The original triangular layout was first introduced with the iPhone 11 Pro, marking a significant departure from the traditional vertical camera setups of previous models. This was largely driven by the need to incorporate a new Ultra Wide camera alongside enhanced sensors and optics. As a result, this design has set a precedent for Apple’s subsequent models, influencing the iPhone design language up to the current iPhone 16.
In addition to the camera design, other changes are anticipated for the iPhone 17 Pro. Reports claim that the rear of the device could feature a rectangular camera bump crafted from aluminum, differing from the conventional 3D glass used in prior models. The lower portion of the phone is expected to remain glass to facilitate wireless charging.
While Instant Digital has a mixed track record with Apple rumors, it has made several accurate predictions in the past. With the iPhone 17 series set to be unveiled in September, anticipation continues to grow around potential features and enhancements, including improved battery capacities and design elements. As the launch approaches, more details about these devices are expected to emerge.
