Apple Music has received a significant update in iOS 26, featuring a redesign with a captivating Liquid Glass aesthetic. Among its new capabilities, the standout addition is the AutoMix feature, designed to enhance the listening experience by creating DJ-like transitions between songs.
AutoMix operates by analyzing the key and tempo of tracks, facilitating seamless song transitions as the current track concludes. This innovative feature replaces the traditional Crossfade option, allowing users to enjoy a continuous flow of music.
Apple describes AutoMix as utilizing sophisticated techniques to ensure transitions occur at just the right moment, giving listeners an engaging experience reminiscent of live DJ performances. Currently, AutoMix is accessible in the developer beta version, and feedback from testers has been overwhelmingly positive.
Social media platforms, including Reddit, are buzzing with praise for this feature, with many highlighting it as a highlight of the new iOS update. However, it’s worth noting that AutoMix is exclusively available to Apple Music subscribers; thus, a subscription is necessary to utilize this innovative tool.
In addition to AutoMix, iOS 26 introduces several other features to Apple Music. For instance, users can now benefit from a Lyrics Translation feature for foreign language songs and a Lyrics Pronunciation option to help them sing along accurately.
Another improvement includes the ability to pin favorite playlists to the top of the Music app, conveniently accessible via a new pinned music widget on Home and Lock Screens. As of now, iOS 26 is available for developers, with a public beta expected to launch in July, paving the way for a broader rollout this fall alongside new iPhone models.
